I get asked this a lot & i thought i'd take a second to draft a single reply. I hide my comments on my main page because i don't want any comments at all on my front page... I don't care if you thanked me for the fav... To me 90% of comments on your front page end up as achievement style pavlovian responses. If you've ever played a multiplayer game with achievement unlocks, where everyone can see them & are a major part of the game (like in WoW *shudder*), you will notice people will say "good job" or "congrats" whenever someone gets an achievement... They don't want to, its just a preprogrammed pavlovian response: Thats how i see "Thanks for the Fav."

If you want to discus a particular piece of work in my gallery there is a place for that. If you want to discus the entire gallery there is a place for that. If you want to discus my view on someone elses journal there is a place for that. If you want to flame me over following a rule & giving someone a heads up, there's a place for that too... My front page is not that place: If i could take down that particualr widget i would, but you can't.

In fact outside of the 90% of messages on my front page that are "thanks for the fav," 1% of the messages are "U y r a trull, bcase y got my friends art work of 2 peopples fuxing taken down... Y mussed be a prude, whose doesn't like sexxing." The remaining 9% are messages asking why i hide my comments... So now you know. I hide them because i don't want them on my front page: if i could get rid of the ability to write there i would.

Oooooohhhh, okay. This makes sense.

I don't hide my comments on my page 'cause hiding them can give someone the impression that you're cold, antisocial, and overly sensitive to other people's comments. (The last person I saw who hid all the comments on his page was a huuuuuge drama queen.)

Also replying to every comment on my page even with ditzy little mindless things is an alright way to encourage people to view me as friendly and that in turn encourages them to stick around and comment on the rest of my stuff~
